Purple mini skirt I drafted and sewed, courtesy of Aldrich’s Metric Pattern Cutting. This is really one of the best sewing books I’ve ever come across.
This is a self-drafted skirt made up of 5 panels, 2 at the back, 3 at the front, and hip pockets. Little bit of bias binding round the waist, top stitching followed by an argument with the zipper and I was done.
Do you like my new photo backdrop? In this weather, it’s the best place in the garden, it isn’t muddy and gets decent light. We actually share the garden with the couple upstairs and I got sprung taking these pics today. It’s OK though, last week the guy upstairs was burying photographs as part of a project on decomposition so I think we understand each other. I just hope he didn’t bury them in the mouse graveyard down the back.
Bit of a two for one in this post as I made this scarf as well. It’s a nice bit of colour in rows of single crochet.
I made the scarf a while ago but I’m posting it today because it’s my mum’s birthday today. She’s one of those mums that never made my sister or I feel bad about what we chose to wear. I never had to sneak out of the house and change into clothes I’d hidden in the letter box. However, “Vanessa, please put on a scarf. Please?” was something I heard a lot.
So this one’s for you, mum. I’m sorry I’m way over the other side of the world on your birthday (again). Love you and I’m sending you a hug.
See, scarf? I’m still wearing it, no? Buon compleanno mama x
How wonderful! The skirt is really grear! Your mama will love the scarf! Happy birthday to your mama!
Thanks, it wrinkles as soon as I think about putting it on. By all accounts, my mum has had a great day. In fact, I think she’s still out!
Wonderful! I hope you drik a glas of wine as well 😉
Love the fabric you used! That is a really nice skirt.
Gotta love mums! I still get told to do up a button – or wear longer skirts!
haha! They’re probably right!
Hehe hearing about your neighbour made me chuckle. High Five on the skirt drafting. Its super cute!
Thank you. The neighbours are lovely, luckily! Sharing a garden would be horrible otherwise.
That is one purple skirt full of awesomeness. It’s a perfect fit. You must get an extra buzz from knowing you drafted it.
Yep, I’m really digging the whole process!
I certainly do. The buzz makes up for the fact I have to iron it!
I love it! Lovely fabric and a nice shape and great pockets. The scarf is great too!
Cute skirt! And my cat looks very similar to the cat in your blog header 🙂
There are a lot of those black and white cats about. Almost all the cats I’ve come across in England are black and white!
